It’s a fact. Vermonters don’t like to throw anything away. Rather than shred or burn out-of-date files, Vermonters simply erect skyscraper file cabinets and store everything. Burlington, Vermont’s largest city, boasts the world’s tallest file cabinet. Since no building is high enough to contain it, you can find it in an open space just off Flynn Avenue between Pine Street and Lake Champlain. It seems to tilt a little, reminiscent of the lesser but still Leaning File Cabinet in Pisa, Italy. So don’t stand too close during a windy day, or Vermont will have a file on you.
