THE MARFA LIGHT
Many Texans have seen the light. It’s not a hard thing to accomplish. All you have to do is travel to Marfa.

The Marfa Lights are one of the best known examples of mystery lights in the United States. To see the lights, travel east from Marfa on US 90 until you get to the Marfa’s Mystery Lights Viewing Area. From here, most people are able to see strange white lights on the horizon, appearing one at a time then fading away quickly. They are miles off in the distance, yet easily noticed and very strange.

Some people say the lights are simply reflections from stars or cars. Others are unable to offer any explanation as to what causes the odd little orbs to appear. The town of Marfa makes no effort to officially explain the lights--instead it just tries to cash in on them. Capitalizing on the number of tourists who come from all over to see the lights for themselves, the town has taken to holding a Marfa Lights celebration each Labor Day.
